KATZ PLUM PRESERVES - Santa Rosa - 16oz ††† $17
Our first plum offering this season is a special release of†KATZ Plum Preserves, Santa Rosa variety. This variety was named for the famed horticulturalist, Luther Burbank, who first developed it in 1906 in, where else, Santa Rosa, California. The fruit has a purple bloom on the skin, a juicy amber flesh, and just a lovely deep, rich flavor with a pleasant tartness that gives the finished preserves such balance. Over time, like many heirloom varieties, they have been bred out of existence and replaced by 'larger,' 'firmer' and quite frankly, much less tasty varieties that 'ship well' - not what we are looking for here! In fact, this plum remains the 'benchmark' for serious plum lovers, and we absolutely agree itís a keeper!
ABOUT THE TASTE
The fruit for these preserves comes from Frank and Michelle Bera at Bera Ranch in Winters, California. They have been growing heirloom stone fruit for over 25 years and are fully committed to keeping them going. This year's batch of†KATZ Santa Rosa Plum Preserves†is rich and smooth in texture, crimson in color, and has lovely hints of plummy spice with a perfect tang to the finish.
Our preserves are made the old-fashioned way...we do not use any preservatives, period! Please enjoy every spoonful of our fresh fruit preserves, and refrigerate after opening.
