KATZ ORGANIC LARODA PLUM PRESERVES - 16 oz. $16

The Story: We use several varieties of plums depending on the timing each one becomes available during the summer season. At present, we are offering the Laroda Plum variety for our preserves.
The Fruit: It was developed and first planted in Winters, CA in the early 1940s. It has dark purple skin with a red/orange flesh; here are some of our tasting notes when we sat down to marvel at the flavor:
The Taste: The finished condiment is a deep cherry red, with balanced flavors full of sweet spice and a pleasant but forward tart finish. The natural pectin in the fruit leaves a nice, firm texture with a distinctive “pluminess” that hints of black cherries!
Serving Suggestions: Try them on warm scones or biscuits, or on an English muffin with cream cheese. Also makes a delectable condiment for your fall holiday glazed ham, roasted turkey or pork loin. Or, make the absolutely best sandwich with homemade Roasted Almond Butter (see our recipe) and a slathering of KATZ Laroda Plum Preserves (we call that an AB&J around here).
