The Story: Independence Nectarine last year was our first production of this variety and it was certainly a hit selling out in just a few days. The fruit is grown by Emma and Katie at their Cloverleaf Farm, near U.C. Davis. On five acres, they grow well over a dozen varieties of stone fruit, and they are doing so as a certified organic operation. In some cases, they have just a few trees of each variety and what they offer us is often most of their yearly production…a true "Limited Release!"
The Fruit: This is a gorgeous fruit blushed with a brilliant cherry red, a perfect balance of rich, and sweet with a nice tang of acid to balance it out. These finished preserves have a deep, velvety texture, a lovely sunset coral color, and a pleasant balance of tart in the finish. The flavors are quite simply amazing.
Enough is never enough around here, and anytime we can find this kind of quality of locally grown fruit, done so with such extraordinary care and an eye to good stewardship of their land, then we are in and ready to work to make them into a tasty treat for your table...enjoy!
Our preserves are made the old-fashioned way...we do not use any preservatives, period! Please enjoy every spoonful of our fresh fruit preserves, and refrigerate after opening.
