The Story: We are thrilled to have added Emma and Katie’s Cloverleaf Farm, near UC Davis, to our cherished line up of small farmers who grow many different varieties of fruit for our KATZ Preserves. These hard working women are farming 5 acres of stone fruit crops utilizing well over a dozen varieties and doing so as a certified organic operation.
The Fruit: Independence and LeGrand Nectarines are new varieties to us this year, and once we tasted and tested them, we were pleased with the results. Both of these have some crimson patches on the skin, firm and juicy pulp with the ideal balance of sweet with a nice tang of acid to harmonize the flavor.
The Taste: The finished preserves have a velvety texture with generous pieces of cut up fruit and a lovely sunset coral color. The nectarine combo creates a pleasant balance of sweet and tart...the flavor screams summer!
Our preserves are made the old-fashioned way...we do not use any preservatives, period! Please enjoy every spoonful of our fresh fruit preserves, and refrigerate after opening.
